Tell us about your professional experience before discovering the Corporate Governance Institute.
I had no professional experience in corporate governance before I completed the diploma in Corporate Governance, other than working as a Compliance Officer with my previous employer. In this role, I facilitated a lot of Standard Operating Procedures to ensure we followed government regulations.
What challenges or opportunities were you facing in your career or on your board before taking our course?
I was keen to learn what opportunities corporate governance could open for me in my career.
Why did you choose to study for the Diploma in Corporate Governance with us to help with these challenges/opportunities?
My employer and I want to use my knowledge and understanding to develop and build on our company’s approach to corporate governance processes and ensure we are on track with regulations.
Can you describe any particular elements of the course that stood out to you or made a significant impact?
The module that stood out to me the most was the structure of boards and the chain of command.
How has completing this course influenced your career, leadership approach, or governance or ESG skills?
I’ve started to identify the corporate governance gaps in my clients’ companies and can advise them on what they need to do to address any issues.
What did you find most beneficial about studying with the Corporate Governance Institute?
I’m now able to identify when a board is not practising good corporate governance and following my evaluation, I’m able to relay areas that need to be improved and how this can be done effectively.
