The importance of DEI – A Corporate Governance Podcast

by Dan Byrne

The importance of DEI

The importance of DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) is a hot corporate and political topic worldwide as firms try to navigate the task of incorporating it into strategy in a way that pleases stakeholders.

It’s the subject of this latest podcast to fuel your corporate governance education.

The importance of DEI

In this episode, Dan Byrne is joined by John Chrimes, a programme director, non-executive director (NED) and governance advisor, to discuss the evolving nature of DEI and its importance in corporate governance.

Dan and John will explore how DEI has changed over the years, why it has so many critics, and how companies can persist through that debate to craft sensible DEI policies.

It’s a crucial topic for current and future board members, especially as younger generations of stakeholders highlight the continuing need for DEI in global business.

About our guest

John Chrimes is based in the UK and lives in Macclesfield, just south of Manchester, England. He has over 20 years of governance experience through various projects.

He has worked with sectors including retail banking, insurance, asset management, debt management and retail.

Two of his main passions are two of the biggest issues in corporate governance today: ESG and DEI. He has written multiple strategic papers about both, particularly how they integrate with broader company strategy.
